HOMA|13Min

HOMA draws its inspiration from the mythical creature of Greek mythology. For choreographer Lo Li-An, it is a work born from a deep sense of the self being continuously reshaped in an ever-shifting world. In the lost Scythian poem The One-Eyed Men, the griffin builds its nest and lays its eggs like an eagle, inhabiting the Scythian steppes stretching from modern-day Ukraine to Central Asia — lands rich with gold and precious stones. The griffin's purpose was to guard these mines and the treasures hidden within. Created in an age that sought to embody the mightiest of protectors, the griffin emerged from the merging of the most powerful creatures of earth and sky.
Lo Li-An reflects that the shifting nature of relationships is the greatest unknown of a lifetime. It is within these constantly transforming inner and outer connections that we choose, adjust, or hold firm. In the collision and coexistence of forces, we too become, in certain relationships, a griffin of our own.
