::Remarks by Director ::

August was like a web sinking beneath the surface of the water.

There was not much sound, nor any outline eager to emerge. From a distance, everything seemed to have come to a standstill. Yet in places still unseen, every thread continued to move slowly, and every node was still searching for a more precise position.

After moving through the formation, convergence, and entanglement of the first half of the year, we slowed our pace a little this month.

Not to stop, but to move deeper.

Some work does not immediately become an image on stage, nor is it seen right away. It exists in repeated acts of organization, confirmation, and preparation, allowing the lines already connected to readjust their distances from one another, and allowing this ever-growing web to gradually form a more stable structure.

We slowly came to realize that true weaving does not always mean expanding outward.

Sometimes, it needs to sink.

To sink into invisible places, to understand again where each thread comes from and where it will extend next; and, in the quiet, to allow things that have not yet arrived to find their paths toward one another.

And as August draws to a close, another node in the distance is gradually beginning to light up.

In early September, B.DANCE will travel to Glasgow, UK, and return once again to the stage of Ballet Nights. A new city, a new audience, and new encounters also mean that this web will once again extend toward places farther away.

And so, the silence of August is not an empty space.

Those unseen days have in fact been gathering strength for the next emergence.

A web sinks in the depths. It may seem still, but it has never stopped flowing.

We remain within it.

Organizing, connecting, waiting.

Until the next node lights up,and those threads beneath the surface of the waterwill carry us once againtoward somewhere farther away.
